CP 52
General
The function of the Gorter Controls CP52 is to automatically control a ball valve with actuator, the entire unit serving as a shut-off valve. The unit shuts if a pre-set pressure is exceeded.
The Gorter Controls CP52 contains the following elements:
- 5/2 - valve. This enables the main valve to be controlled manually at the actuator.
- Sensing element for sensing the actual outlet pressure
- Maximum spring for overpressure protection
- Switch mechanism
- Emergency button
- Reset mechanism
Operation
If the pressure in the pressure converter (D) exceeds the value fixed with spring V1, the diaphragm (C) will push a pin. The pin will move horizontally, activating a switch mechanism. Independent of the pressure, this opens the valve stem of the 5/2 way valve by means of a compression spring, giving the supply gas to the actuator.
Control unit for shut-off valve
Under normal conditions, the gas is switched through the shut-off pilot and keeps actuator and ball valve in open position.
In case of an increase of the controlled pressure to the set point pressure, the tripping unit switches to the closed position on the 5/2 way valve and the actuator closes the line ball valve. When the downstream pressure returns to normal conditions, it is possible to reset the actuator and open the ball valve again.
